Nigerian Style Kunu Horchata

Why not give this simple horchata recipe a try. Inspired by the Nigerian horchata – Kunu, this velvety and delicious drink is perfect for all occasions. We can’t promise it will be as good as Gretel & Belle's horchata, but we think it’s worth a try.

Ingredients

- 80g tiger nuts (fresh or dried)
- 20g coconuts
- 15g ginger
- 1.5 dates
- 5g cinnamon
- 3g cloves
- 4 dashes vanilla extract
- 400ml water
- 160g tiger nuts (fresh or dried)
- 40g coconuts
- 30g ginger
- 3 dates
- 10g cinnamon
- 6g cloves
- 8 dashes vanilla extract
- 800ml water
- 240g tiger nuts (fresh or dried)
- 60g coconuts
- 45g ginger
- 4.5 dates
- 15g cinnamon
- 9g cloves
- 12 dashes vanilla extract
- 1200ml water
Directions
Step 1
Soak tiger nuts in water for at least 24 hours (fresh) or at least 48 hours (dried).
Step 2
In a blender, add tiger nuts, coconuts, ginger, dates, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla extract and water and blend until a smooth mix is formed.
Step 3
Pour horchata mix into a cheesecloth and strain.
Step 4
Chill horchata until ready to serve. Stir well before serving.
